What is Credit Recovery
New Credit or Recovery Credit
Credit recovery is a term used to refer to a block of instruction that is less than the entirety of the Standard Course of Study for that course. Credit recovery, therefore, delivers a subset of the Standard Course of Study or Blueprint of the original course in order to address specific deficiencies in a student’s mastery of the course and target specific components of a course necessary for completion.
Students in Peoria Public Schools District 150 will use Edgenuity as the means to credit recovery. Below are guidelines for completing Edgenuity courses.
Modules in the Edgenuity program must be completed and mastered to meet the Illinois Standard Course of Study. These are consistent across the district. The Curriculum Department has identified the content for the courses.
Students must complete 80% of the assigned modules with the required if they have failed the course. If a student hasn't failed the course 100% of content must be completed.
The credit recovery grades will not take the place of the failing grade on the transcript. It will be recorded as a credit recovery or show as the second time taking the class. The original “F” will remain on the transcript.
Students and Parents should be mindful of any grades that appear on the transcript that are "F". The "F" indicates that no credit was earned for this particular class and in that case credit recovery would be needed in order to keep the student on "track for graduation". Counselor's are able to sign up students for credit recovery at the request of the parent or in some cases recommend students for credit recovery if they are noted to be behind in credit by their counselor. Please contact your counselor if you believe you need credit recovery classes to stay on track.
