Tardy Policies

A student is tardy when he/she is not in the door by the time the bell finishes ringing.

Any student arriving to school after 7:30 must check in and see the Attendance Clerk (128) prior to reporting to class and receive a late slip

Students will only receive 2 excused tardies per semester, unless they have a Dr. Note with the date and time of their appointment on the note.

Please make certain that a note is sent explaining the tardiness. He/she should take this note to the attendance office to sign in before reporting to class. A signed appointment slip from dentist or doctor may be used in lieu of a note from parents. Parents should come in to the office to sign in students; or a signed note is requested from parents.A email will also suffice.

Remind student that merit halls are held Tuesday, and Wednesday,Thursday from 2:45-3:15 and can be worked off (they cannot be late).

Class Skips/Random Hall Sweeps

#1 – Class Skips

  • Students in hallways without passes mid-period will be given a Saturday School and sent back to assigned class with a pass with the official time on it. Anything beyond 5 minutes returning will result in further office discipline.

  • Thus teachers should not allow students in the hall without a pass.

  • Regardless of the “excuse” students will receive the Saturday School slips and it will be up to the teacher to contact an administrator to remove it if it was a teacher error.

#2 – Random Sweeps

  • Periodically we will email out certain periods during a day to do random sweeps (i.e. 2nd period March 9)

  • During these periods when the bell rings, doors will be closed and locked.

  • Students will not be allowed to enter without a Saturday School Slip with the official time

  • Students receiving 2 Saturday Schools in a week may suspended for insubordination

  • It is always the students responsibility to inform parents of Saturday School as high school leaders

  • Teachers should share these initiatives and revisit them often in each class and in detail in Pride Time

  • Results Not Excuses- Students have 5 minute passing time, are allowed to use book bags and each teacher has hall passes and logs so no student should be in the hall without a pass

  • No hall passes should be given during these scheduled periods in order to clear the hallways completely

  • Using the restroom and being late to class is not an acceptable excuse. Students need to plan ahead and use time wisely
