We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat has been recognized as one of the four finalists for the National Superintendent of the Year award by AASA. This prestigious accolade was presented to her during the AASA National Conference on Education in New Orleans on March 6th, 2025. Dr. Desmoulin-Kherat is quick to credit this achievement to the dedication and hard work of our administrators, teachers, and board of education members. Their collective efforts and commitment to overcoming the challenges faced by our school district have been instrumental in our progress. While we celebrate this national recognition, we also extend our heartfelt congratulations to the award winner, Walter B. Gonsoulin, Jr. of Jefferson County Schools, Alabama. This award, co-presented by AASA, Corebridge Financial, and Sourcewell, highlights the exceptional contributions of superintendents nationwide. We are proud to have Dr. Desmoulin-Kherat represent our district and share the innovative programs and strategies from PPS on the national stage.

Good evening families, This week is a busy week with all classes in 5th thru 8th grade headed to the Riverfront Museum. We are so fortunate that our students are able to access this wonderful resource just a few miles from our school. We also have Dental Sealants here on Wednesday. Our boys basketball team has an away game on Tuesday and 8th grade night on Thursday here at The Elise Ford Allen Academy. We congratulate our JV Girls Basketball team as they will be recognized at the Board of Education meeting on Monday at 6:30. We are planning to be back outside for recess this week, so please have your student dress accordingly. Last but not least, our parent breakfast, originally scheduled for January 21st will be this Tuesday at 7:30 in the cafeteria. Have a wonderful week ahead!
