After Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Education Center, the Dual Language Immersion class moved up to Whittier Primary School. The very first class is now in 3rd grade!
Fact of the Day: Hispanic Heritage Month starts on September 15th because it is the anniversary of the day Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua became independent in 1821!
Peoria Public Schools began our Dual Language Immersion Program 6 years ago at Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Education Center! Native Spanish and native English speakers learn both languages in the SAME class at the SAME time!

After serving as Peoria High School's principal for the last 7 years, Dr. Annette Coleman is PPS's new Director of Community-Based Social-Emotional Learning! Mr. Shaun McGinnes is taking over as principal at PHS.
From practicing in a backyard in 2015 to performing for sold-out audiences in 2023, the student-led Hawley Wild Drama Club is an amazing example of what PPS students are capable of when they set their minds to it!
Thank you to the Peoria Fire Department, Afro-American Fire Fighters Association, Peoria Firefighters Local 50, the Park District, and Product of the Project for getting our students ready for school by giving out hundreds of supplies at their Back-To-School events. The school year is off to a great start because of your investment!
