At Manual High School, percussion is more than music—it’s a tool for life. This week on One Class at a Time, we spotlight Terrell Ford, a percussion instructor using drumming to teach discipline, time management, and communication.

“I don’t care about drumming—I care about teaching life through drums,” Ford said. His lessons go beyond music, shaping students’ character and confidence. “When the drums are done, your character should be the loudest drum in the room.”

Students like junior Sarai Cage appreciate his approach. “He wants us to have the skills to succeed in life, not just in music,” she said.

Ford’s classroom is a safe space where students are encouraged to try, learn, and grow. His impact is clear—improving academics, home life, and self-confidence.

To honor his dedication, One Class at a Time, sponsored by CEFCU, surprised Ford with a $1,000 check. For him, the drumline is just the beginning—it's the life lessons that make the real noise.
