Reading Recovery Interventionist-1st Grade

Mrs. Phillips has a Bachelor's in Fine Arts in Education, from Illinois State University (2000), with a concentration on Language Arts and Social Studies. Mrs. Phillips received her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Illinois State University (2006). The title of her Masters thesis was Reading in the Content Area. In 2011, Mrs. Phillips earned another Masters, this time in Education Administration from Bradley University. She continued her education at National Louis University to earn her Reading Recovery Certification.

   Her first teaching experience was 7th and 8th grade at White Middle School for 6 years. When White Middle School closed, she then went with her students to Lincoln Middle School.  There she taught Scholastic READ180 to 8th graders. While working on her second masters, she transferred to Sterling Middle School to intern with Mr. Delinski.  At the end of her second year at Sterling, she accepted the position as Reading Interventionist at Richwoods High School.  After 6 years at Richwoods, she found a new home at Roosevelt Magnet School as an Interventionist for the 5th - 8th grades.

   This is Mrs. Phillips’ 24th year with District 150 and her 7th year at Roosevelt.

   Mrs. Phillips will celebrated her 30th wedding anniversary in June. Most of her time away from school is spent with her husband and 21-year-old son.

   Just as in school, Mrs. Phillips also has a wide variety of interests and hobbies.  She enjoys gardening, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
