Dispatch
Mrs. Minnie Alexander, Operations Manager
The Dispatch Office is the communications hub for the Department of Transportation and Fleet Services. Our office is open from 5:00AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. As always, both senior and junior staff are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Dispatch is the link among all 150 buses, supervisors, emergency services, and the district office. This office handles route coverage when absences occur, dispatches emergency response teams, and provides safe transportation for the students of Peoria Public Schools.
Dispatch respond to each driver's transmission, which can range from general information, to emergency situations that require communication with Police or Fire departments. Dispatch receives and respond to telephone calls from drivers, supervisors, Central Office, schools, parents/students and administration. Dispatch handles calls from frustrated parents and school personnel trying to locate a student or determine what time a bus will arrive.
So we may assist you as quickly as possible, please have the following information ready when you call:
Name of Student
Name of School
Bus or Route Number
Location of pick up/drop off
Missing Students
First thing is to remain calm. Traffic, adverse weather, or combining of routes can cause your child's bus to run late. If it is 15 minutes after the scheduled arrival time, your first call should be to the Transportation Office (309-693-4418). The sooner transportation is notified, the sooner we can get a hold of your bus driver to inquire.
Peoria Public Schools has a procedure in place for locating "missing students" which will be activated the moment we receive your phone call.
