21st Annual Aaron Hunter Cuddle Compassion Day
Get ready for the 21st annual Aaron Hunter Cuddle Compassion Day! Please join us in showing HOPE and COMPASSION during the month of December!
For those of you who are new to our school family, every year we take a special day to cuddle up in our pajamas and show compassion for the children of St. Jude. This event began 21 years ago when a Northmoor student, Aaron Hunter, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Our school community pulled together around the holiday season to help this family in need. Aaron passed away on December 10, 2004, (that year's Cuddle Compassion Day). Mayor Dave Ransburg issued a proclamation declaring December 10th as Aaron Hunter Cuddle Compassion Day in Peoria. There is a memorial outside of our library with Aaron’s picture as we renamed the library the Aaron Hunter Library. As we honor the children of St. Jude, we show compassion and give thanks for every healthy child in our community. We will be taking donations for St. Jude on Friday, December 13th, our 21st annual Cuddle Compassion Day. On this special day, all students and staff will cuddle up in their pajamas in honor of Aaron, who loved to wear super-hero pajamas. Many classrooms will plan quiet reading activities since Aaron had a true love for reading. Aaron’s family and friends will be visiting us for a special assembly as we honor and remember Aaron. Thank you in advance for your donations and support. Last year we raised almost $1,000 for the children of St. Jude. Let’s beat that amount!!! Any amount helps!! It means so much to the families of the children of St. Jude and we hope that we can help researchers find a cure for childhood cancer.
