Student & Family Directory

*On Friday, students will be dismissed @ 2:30pm!

Attendance

We wrapped our week with 94% attendance, and we celebrate Mrs. Gorman's Class with 99% attendance. Since we have spirit week this week, they will enjoy a special plate of cookies! Please, always remember, attendance matters!

Spirit Week

Monday begins our Spirit Week. Just to clarify, as long as students are participating in the holiday spirit for the day, they do not need to be in uniform!

12 Days of Giving

This week we will be starting the 12 Days of Giving. Students will be randomly selected to choose a prize from under the tree. In order to participate, they MUST exhibit respectful, responsible, safe, and engaging behavior by following our Kellar Expectations. As you know, the holiday season can cause anxiousness and excitement so please remind students about making appropriate choices at school.

Parent University

Peoria Public Schools will be hosting a Parent Café on Thursday, January 9th at Woodruff Career & Technical Center in the gym from 5:30pm – 7:00pm.  The parent café will include food provided by the WCTC culinary students, door prizes/games, a photo booth, and a workshop with Garry Moore titled “Cray Cray Advice for Parents”.  There will also be childcare available.

Garry Moore will engage parents in a fun filled exercise that uses mock scenarios to facilitate discussion on a wide range of parenting subjects which will include: Children's use of social media, healthy eating, bullying, sleep schedules, and more.

The first 25 families that register will receive an Amazon Fire for their student(s) at the event.

Morning Drop Off & Afternoon Pick-up

  1. It is very important that all families follow the established Drop Off & Pick-Up Procedures. Please do not park on the side of the road on Mt. Hawley when dropping off your student. There have been numerous concerns and is a safety issue.

  2. Building Access Policy: Please drop your student off at the door and hallway supervisors can assist them to class if needed. Otherwise, parents will need to sign in at the office before entering the building.

  3. Fire Lane /Bus Lane Parking: During AM/PM Arrival and Dismissal, please park either on the back blacktop or in a designated parking spot. The Fire Lane and the Bus Lane in front of the school must remain clear. This is to ensure safety for all of our students.

  4. If you need to cross the street, please use the designated crosswalk and avoid parking on the sides of the street on Mt. Hawley.

  5. If you are going to let your student(s) play on the playground after school or are staying after for some other reason, please move your car to an open spot outside of the fence immediately so the gate can be closed.

Playground Expectations

It is extremely important that every student at Kellar follows our school's playground expectations during school time to keep everyone safe. Please review and discuss these with your student(s).

The Golden Rule: Treat Others as You Would Like to Be Treated

Please encourage your student(s) to make appropriate choices at school and on the bus by reviewing with them our school wide expectations that they agreed upon at the beginning of the school year by signing their student handbook and communicate that you always have the same expectations for them when they are attending school.

Thank you for all you do, no one plays a more important role in the educational success of a student than their family!

Don't forget to shine your Kellar pride!
