This week Northmoor 3rd and 4th grade students had a very special guest - Ruthie Bolton! Ruthie is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and former WNBA player with many more basketball honors. She is part of the program Sports World where professional athletes share their personal experiences with students.
Throughout their message, they help students recognize that there are consequences for the actions that they choose. She emphasized the importance of not bullying others and spreading kindness. Ruthie also spread the message of hope. She conveyed the importance of making positive decisions in life and never giving up. She shared her own personal story of never giving up, despite what coaches may have told her along the way. She showed determination and perseverance and never gave up. She challenged each student to write down one positive change that day on a postcard to take with her.
Ruthie ended her presentation by giving each child an autographed basketball card. Ruthie Bolton, you are an inspiration! Northmoor 3rd and 4th grade students and staff are lucky to have met her!
