Sonya Nunez, a teacher at Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Education Center was surprised by NEWS 25 anchor, Victoria Williams, on Tuesday with the News 25/CEFCU One Class AT A TIME award! Mrs. Nunez is a special education teacher who is dedicated to living out Valeska Hinton’s legacy. Nunez was nominated over 9 times by peers, friends and family for her impact, and the dedication, love and patience she gives to each and every one of her students!! Sonya believes working with children with different abilities is her life’s purpose. She said her students are her passion, her reason for coming to work each day and she couldn't do what she does without her amazing TEAM! The $1000 check Sonya received will be used to purchase sensory items for her classroom and will tremendously benefit her STAR students and students with different abilities!
