Dear Parents and Students,

It is amazing how fast the summer goes! The staff and I are extremely excited to open this school year and welcome back our students back on July 31, 2024. Over the course of the summer, the staff has spent time with their families and continued to academically support students through summer school, as well as attending professional development to enhance our academic instruction at Sterling Middle School.

Sterling Middle School staff, in collaboration with parents, families, and the community will develop decent human beings through improved teaching and learning while promoting personal and academic growth.

This year, I am happy to announce that I will continue to lead the Sterling Jaguars during the 2024-2025 school year. I am excited to welcome back Ms. Katie Malahy as our Assistant Principal. We have been busy planning to ensure we have a solid foundation built as we get ready to start our new school year. Our Jaguar team is ready to have fun, collaborate, and take our academic learning to the next level of academic success. Our Jaguar staff members are excited to meet your students’ needs. I have confidence that my Sterling team will bring a wide range of experience and expertise to the school to keeping moving our Jaguars forward, both academically, as well as through social emotional supports. Ms. Malahy and I are always available via email or phone calls and we will always respond within 48 hours.

Administration and staff have been attending professional development this summer to provide Sterling students a top-notch education. We will continue training throughout the year to ensure we meet the needs of all our students. When our students are promoted to high school, they will be prepared for success at the high school level and continue to be decent human beings. My team is committed to making Sterling a school of excellence.

We are working hard to ensure our school continues to prepare our students academically, athletically, and culturally. To assure that our students receive a top-notch education, we need all stakeholders to become involved in our Sterling community, including our parents, families, and our students. Our students need to be in attendance, on time and ready to learn each day. Our students need to commit themselves to following our 3 Sterling goals: being a kind, decent human being, focusing on personal betterment, and striving for academic growth. If our students buy-in to our expectations, they will not only have the foundation to be successful leaders at the high school level, but they will also learn, practice, and begin to master the skills necessary to be successful at the collegiate level, as well as in the workforce.

We greatly appreciate parental involvement. The number one indicator in the success of a student is the level of parent/guardian involvement in the education of a child. Please get involved in any way that you can. Attend extra-curricular events, participate in our back-to-school events, and attend our curriculum nights. These events will all be posted on calendars and on our website throughout the year. We would love to grow and have a more active PTO. It takes a village to raise a child, and I encourage and welcome all families of Sterling students to become part of our Sterling family.

This year, we will continue our drop off and pick up pattern in the back of the building, like previous years. All parents that will be bringing their students will turn onto Westminister and pull into the back-parking lot and follow the traffic pattern to drop off their students. All buses will pick up and drop off bus riders in the front of the building. We will continue to communicate this information and send out more information as we get closer to the start of school.

Remember school will begin on Wednesday, August 3rd. This year, our school day will be from 7:30-2:30. If your child is a bus rider, please visit the district website to ensure your student will know the pick-up location and time for their bus route.

We are excited to see everyone back August 3rd and look forward to a wonderful new school year!
