Welcome to 7th grade Language Arts!
Originally from Chillicothe, IL, I've been an English teacher since 2013, and I'm thrilled to be teaching here at Sterling Middle School! Our third unit this year is called "Game On!" and our essential question is "Is space exploration a daring adventure or a dangerous risk?" We are focusing on skills such as analyzing text organization, mood, poetry, and determining author's purpose. We've read a short story, a poem, an argument, and an informational text so far.
We will be writing a short story and taking a unit test halfway through this Quarter 3, then transitioning to Lit Circles, which is where students read a book together in a small group.
We also have a new focus this year on Individual Guided Practice--students work on assignments that are tailored to their specific needs, either through IXL, reading, vocabulary, writing, etc.
