My name is Mrs. Shaffer and this is my fourth year as library manager here at MBS.  I am so eager to share my love of reading with all of you.  I have spent most of my life working with and around books,  promoting reading for pleasure as well as for information.  I enjoy all genres, but am especially fond of historical fiction, literary fiction and non-fiction. 

At 16 I began my first job working at the Peoria Public Library Lakeview branch as a page.   I have also worked at the downtown main library in both circulation and youth services.  I am currently on the Rebecca Caudill committee, where I have the pleasure of helping choose, along with other librarians and teachers in Illinois, the 20 nominees for the current year award. 

My husband and I have two sons who are currently attending Richwoods and a daughter in 7th grade. We also have three cats, Atticus, Miggy and Rizzo.  When I'm not reading, I love spending time outdoors, birdwatching, traveling and visiting new places in the United States.
