Hello Lincoln K-8 Families,

With this letter we are pleased to launch the 2024-25 school year. I have been a Lincoln Mustang for 12 years and I am looking forward to my first year as the principal of Lincoln K-8. I have been an Assistant Principal for three years and before that I was an Instructional Coach, an Interventionist and a Second Grade Teacher (all at Lincoln). I am especially looking forward to working closely with you so we can bring your child the best possible educational experience.  As you know, Lincoln K-8 is a kindergarten through 8th grade school, and we want to continue to grow our role as a community center for you and your family.

Reaching out to you was the focus of our summer.  In partnership with Elite, we were able to meet with many of you over our summer break. We appreciate your willingness to open your doors and welcome us. Our collaboration with Elite has been groundbreaking, and their dedication to Lincoln K-8 has made a huge difference.

Additionally, your administrative staff has worked their fingers to the bone over the summer. If you have any questions regarding registration, do not hesitate to call and ask Mrs. Harris or Mrs. Ibanez.

It is very heartening to have most of our staff back this year.  This will help us build a consistent program with experienced teachers who want to be part of our mission of bringing your child the best possible experience. We will be joined by three new Assistant Principals. Mr. Jackson is returning to us after three years at Manual. Mrs. Nevitt, who once taught at Lincoln K-8, is returning to us after many years at Von Steuben and Mrs. Hardesty will be joining us after many years with SEPCO and Liberty Middle.

The entire staff is bubbling with excitement about the new school year. Our number one goal is student achievement!  We are committed to providing each student with a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment. Like you, we have high expectations for your child.  We know that education can change lives.  There will be many events throughout the year to involve yourself with Lincoln K-8.  Please plan to take time to get to know your child’s teachers and be involved in school activities. These relationships provide great support for your child and reinforce the importance of school. If you can join our PTO, please do so! The first day of school for students is Wednesday, July 31, 2024.  The school day will start at 7:30 a.m. and dismissal will be at 2:30 p.m.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Returning Student Registration:  Students returning to Lincoln K-8, who have not had a change of address, may complete the registration process online through Family Access. Log into Family Access and click on the Start Enrollment Verification for the 2024-2025 school year.  Here you will be able to access and complete the student enrollment form, emergency contact information, photo release, school network agreement, free/reduced lunch form, and more!

New Student Orientation and Unpack your Backpack - This will be held Tuesday, July 30th from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Families are invited to meet the teachers, tour the building, and drop off supplies in the classroom.

School Hours:  The first day of school will be Wednesday, July 31st.  This will be a full day of school.  School begins at 7:30 a.m. and finishes at 2:30 p.m.  Students may enter the building at 7:15. At that time they will come in and gather in the gym. We ask that students do not arrive before 7:15 a.m. as there is no supervision, and students will remain outside.  Students should be in class by 7:30 to avoid being marked tardy.

Attendance: Regular and timely attendance is important to ensure students have the best learning opportunity possible.  Please have your child at school on time and avoid scheduling appointments during school hours whenever possible.  If your child is ill, please call the school or send a note within 48 hours to avoid having them marked as unexcused. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain correct records and minimize students being away from school for unexcused absences as outlined in compulsory attendance laws for the State of Illinois.
