Visual Arts Education K-4

Hello, CTV Students & Families!

I'm excited to teach K-4 Visual Arts and Mindful Movement classes again. Over the years, I've taught every subject and all grade levels from K-8, and I've been teaching at our school for most of my career. I love helping students discover and develop their own artistic skills and talents! I enjoy teaching students that Art is truly everywhere around us, and there's lots of Science and Social Studies involved with Art as well.

Students will be very busy in Art class using their imaginations, being creative, and learning everything in the PSD 150 Visual Arts curriculum. Students will be expected to focus and show good effort and to be brave and try new things so that they can develop their artistic skills. They will learn about different artists, learn about different art styles and techniques, and learn basic skills to create beautiful works of art. We will also integrate some other subjects with our Art lessons.

To successfully learn and to earn good grades in Art class, all students MUST:

  • Follow all directions given for artwork and behavior.

  • Be respectful to me, peers, supplies, and all artwork.

  • Be responsible for supplies, artwork and behavior.

Every student in grades K-4 is required to have the following supplies organized and ready for Art class:

  1. crayons (24 count or greater)

  2. markers (10 count or greater)

  3. colored pencils (10 count or greater)

  4. scissors

  5. glue (stick and/or liquid)

  6. plenty of regular pencils

  7. erasers
