Vision

As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), I teach students with low vision and blindness.  My role consists of teaching students the Braille and Nemeth Code, assistive technology, independence, and skills to utilize functional vision.  I conduct assessments on students to determine their functional vision and learning mediums.  I adapt all necessary materials in large print or in braille.

As a Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS), I teach students with visual impairments how to travel effeciently with the use of mobility devices and adapted mobility devices. You may see me out and about in Peoria teaching students to cross difficult intersections and how to utilize public transportation.
