Hair Braiding - Natural Hair

Ms. Simmons is the first hair braiding teacher in Illinois to teach in public schools 10th – 12th-grade students.  She has been teaching Hair Braiding for seven years in Peoria District 150, at the Woodruff Career & Technical Center. Hair Braiding requires 300 clock hours and a passing grade of at least 85% to receive certification.  She created the curriculum and test for this course.  When students pass the test, they will have a license.  There is not a state board exam at this time.  This course is a pre-employment laboratory instructional sequence, designed to provide job-specific training for entry-level employment. Ms. Simmons states that it is an honor to bring her 30+ years of experience and passion for future hair braiders.
