Speech Language Pathologist
Hello Parents! Welcome to Mrs. Messmore's Online Classroom!

As we embark on the 24-25 school year, I’d like to introduce myself.  My name is Mrs. Messmore and I will be your student’s Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) this year.  This year, I am assigned to serve a portion of students at Dr. Maude A. Sanders Primary School as well as students in private/parochial schools with DMAS as their home public school.  Speech-language services are set to begin the week of Monday, August 5th.  The first few days of the school year are set aside for the speech-language staff to conduct grade-level screenings, locate each student on his/her caseload, speak with teachers, review files and set up a therapy schedule.  Therapeutic services will follow the plan outlined in your student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).  Throughout the year I anticipate meeting with each of you and discussing your child’s progress at IEP meetings to which either I or a special education teacher/coordinator will send you a formal written notice at least 10 days in advance of the meeting.  I encourage you to contact me at school as soon as any questions/concerns arise.  You can also get my contact information and at-home learning activities for your student below.

Respectfully,

Kelly C. Messmore M.S., CCC-SLP/L

IMPORTANT UPDATE AS OF 5/23/23:

Due to the high number of children expected to need speech-language therapy services at Dr. Maude A. Sanders Primary School for the 2023-24 school year, additional SLP staff will again be assigned to the building.  At this time, I am slated to provide services to the general population at Dr. Sanders Primary for grades K-4 and home-schooled/private/parochial students in our attendance area.  Additional SLP staff may be present to provide services to students in the Life Skills and Autism classrooms housed at DMAS for 23-24.
